Sometimes I'm a little slow to recognize the obvious :) but I may go back to change that, it's kind of too good to pass up!
Oddly my husband also has enough paranoia to share, is very critical of his country of origin's surveillance tactics, and yet his clinging to the college track nullifies all of that. He's very against youngest kid having a stance that would jeopardize this path. It's a crazy situation.
I wouldn't be surprised if by the time your middle schooler gets to that age things have shaken out quite a bit (thinking of the difference between 2014/15 and 2020...). You'll probably have a lot more information to work with by then.
